The first victim.

Here is a MINI ITX i am going to try and run scope on (www.soniccore.com)
I go not have great hopes for it because it has a VIA chipset (its an 800mhz c3!)
if it does not work i will get an intel based one. it just has to have 1 pci slot, and a modest CPU.
the CPU is not actually used for much with scope, all the processing takes place on the card itself.

The card is a first generation pulsar. it has 4 Analog Devices Sharc DSP chips on it, which i hope will be enough for what i am trying to do.

a have 3 of their boards in another computer, and the SDK, so i will be doing most of the "guts" of the circuit in DSP.

  1. I plan on using a 1U 15" Deep ATX made for Dual MINI-ITX mobo's. The newest J & W MINI ITX's called MINIX are going to be the choice for the XITE-1. It will be a dual streaming 1U because of the VE Pro VST 3.0 host that can use Gigabit LAN for MIDI & Audio. No need for soundcard, Video card or MIDI I/O. I can't see the VIA chipset being compatable, especially with a TYPE I Pulsar card. But I wish you luck. I can say that I have seen the 785G / 790GX chipsets w/ AMD Phenoms working well on uATX's. That's why I am wanting to look at the J & W MINIX.
Your project looks cool so I am linking up to this site.

    Thanks..DiaperJim

  3. It does not have a PCI slot. i got a shuttle korporate kube for $75 and it would work, im using that one for my CNC mill though.

ill see if one gos on sale again.

  5. One possible consideration is the overall length of the PCI lines coming off the motherboard through the extra length added by the 90deg. adapter - because I'm not sure if/how this might effect the Pulsar functionality.

PCI spec. is pretty strict about overall PCI bus signal lengths.
